In my article about how bloggers make money online through adsense, i clearly stated that, to be able to make lots of money through the Google adsense program, you will need to choose a profitable ad sense niche to blog about. I also mentioned that the cost of a click on a Google ad varies from 1 cent to $60 depending on the profitabibility of your niche. So the more profitable your niche is, the greater the money you will earn from a click on the Google ads that will be displayed on your blog.
Somebody may likely want to ask; but what is a profitable adsense niche?.
A profitable adsense niche is a niche with already a proven track record for making money in. It is a niche with many products and services that many people often buy online. Advertisement on products and services in such niches often yield a high return on investment and so due to the above fact, Google often set a high cost per click for the ads in such niches and the advertisers are also willing to advertise at that high price knowing fully well that they will still get a return on their investment.
For example the fashion niche is an example of a profitable adsense niche. Everyday millions of people world wide buy fashion items online and so a fashion related ad on a Google search result or an adsense partner,s blog will aways have a higher probability of being clicked and also yields a high conversion rate. For example once a web visitor sees an ad for a beautiful handbag on a fashion blog, there,s a high probability of the web visitor to click on the ad (the adsense partner to make money). Once the web visitor goes to the fashion store website, there,s a high probability of her to make a purchase; hence the reason why advertisers are more willing to advertise even at a very high cost per click on their ads. Once she makes a purchase, the advertiser(owner of the fashion ad) also get a return on their investment.
On the otherhand, in a non profitable adsense niche, there,s little or no products or services to advertise (not advertising friendly). Apart from that, people don,t often spend money on products and services in a non profitable niche. So even if there,s product and services to advertise, the ads will often have a very low cost per click. Google often charge a low cost per click for the unprofitable niches because the probability of the AdWords advertisers in the niche to get a return on their investment is very low. The very few advertisers in a non-profitable adsense niche are very willing to advertise at the low cost per click because they stand a chance of losing almost nothing if their ads doesn,t yield any conversion in monetary terms. After all, Google uses a Pay Per Click payment system to charge advertisers…meaning that if nobody clicks on their ads, they don,t get billed. The main burden in a non profitable adsense niche shifts to the bloggers (adsense partners) because they must work extremely hard to get their web visitors to click on the low paying Google ads and they need more web visitors to click on those ads for them to make a reasonable amount of money. In fact there are very few serious advertiser in a non profitable adsense niche. The many advertisers who advertise in an unprofitable adsense niche, do so just to experiment. If they realise that they are not making any money through advertising, they can stop their ads from being shown. This is the main reason why bloggers who blog about unadvertising friendly subjects like rock climbing often find relevant ads on their blogs today and very unrelevant ads on their blogs the next day.
Please take note that if there,s no AdWords ads relevant to the content of your blog then Google will have no choice but to display irrelevant to your blog, meaning no-one will click on them and you won’t earn anything. So its very vital that you choose a very profitable adsense niche if you really wish to make lots of money through the Google adsense program.
For example a niche like rock climbing is a non-profitable adsense niche. There,s little or no products and services that can be advertised in that niche. Even if there,s rock climbing products and services like rock climbing shoes, rock climbing training video ads/ books other products and services to advertise, the conversion rate of those products and services will be very low because they are products and services that people don,t normally buy or pay for online.
An advertising friendly niche is a niche where the Adwords advertisers have made a high bid on keywords within the niche and there are lots of products to advertise and advertisers are very willing to advertise. To find out how much you could possibly earn per click and the list of keywords that the adwords advertisers have targeted within your target niche, you need to go to the Google keyword planner tool.
The Google keyword planner or Adword tool will give you a list of popular keywords used by Google users, their search volume as well as the amount that the adwords advertiser are willing to pay per click (their cost per click) for those keywords. The target keywords within your niche are the keywords that your target audience are using to search for information about your niche (the subject you are blogging about ). For example what is a domain name? How to register a domain name, are popular keywords within the domain name niche mostly used by people interested in the domain name subject (niche). The Google keyword planner tool will enable you to know the cost per click of the keywords within your niche and the monthly search volume of the various keywords. Simply put, the Google keyword planner tool will enable you to know the total number of times that a particular keyword within your niche is being typed in to the Google search bar per month. This information is important in that, it will enable you to estimate the amount of web visitors that your blog can possibly receive as well as the cost per click of the google ads that have been displayed on your blog.
